The Book of Creation

“You are not my project,” Fr. Angelus tells young people he encounters in his ministry, “and it’s okay to be where you are.”  Fr. Angelus encourages them to be honest about the suffering they experience, and how it’s a reminder that the world doesn’t contain the answers they seek.  In this inspirational film, Fr. Angelus encourages you to bring the pain and suffering you experience to the Lord and not to be discouraged.  “Consider Jesus looking and having mercy upon you,” he says.  In this encounter with Christ, you won’t find a judgmental moralist scrutinizing your faults, but a loving Redeemer who wants to be brought into your suffering.  As Fr. Angelus reminds us, this requires trust and a risk.  “Go to Him and risk it, asking him to show up because he is the God that shows up,” he tells us.  At the end, Fr. Angelus offers a prayer asking the Lord to help you, the listener, put his advice into practice.  “My advice doesn’t heal anyone, only Jesus does” he cautions.  May this film inspire all who watch to “risk” the encounter with Jesus in prayer to find healing.
